This is like any other futures bet, in which each competitor in the field will have odds placed on them to win the entire championship. You will be able to place a wager on any player you choose before the tournament begins. If you’re player loses at any point in time, your wager will lose. You can also find online sportsbooks that will offer wagers on who the finalists will be, and who will win each particular match throughout the entire tournament.

Special betting options

The sport of darts offers two very unique special bets, known as the 9 darter and 170 checkout. These markets used to be rare to find, but they are becoming more common today. You can wager whether you think a particular player will complete a 9-dart finish, which is the perfect leg in the sport. It means the player will use the fewer darts possible (9) to complete the score of 501 and here are some betting examples, have a look.

Kyle Anderson – Zong Xiao Chen-590+400
Andy Boulton – Daniel Baggish-190+150

The 170 checkout happens when a player has 170 points or less remaining to win, and he/she can complete the victory with only three darts. Your wager will be on whether they will do this. Other special betting options include betting on specific matches within the tournament fixture, taking favorites or underdogs in a match and wagering on who will be named the player of the tournament.

PDC World Darts Championship 2020

The 2020 version of the PDC World Darts Championship is coming up soon. It will begin on Thursday, December 12, 2019, and will end on Wednesday, January 1, 2020. Since 2008, the event has been held at Alexandra Palace in London, and it will be held there again this year. The top 72 qualifying players will head to Alexandra Palace to compete in the PDC World Darts Championship. The draw for the matchups will be chosen once all the participants have been set. The tournament consists of a preliminary round where 16 players will face off against each other. The eight players that proceed victorious from this round will move onto what is known as the first round. There will be 64 players left at the start of the first round.

The rest of the tournament will progress much like the March Madness tournament does in American college basketball. It’s a single-elimination style tournament in which each match will result in a winner who will move onto the next round. Once a player loses a match, he is eliminated from the competition entirely. The PDC World Darts Championship will continue to proceed in this fashion all the way up to the final round, where the remaining two players will face off against each other to determine the winner. If you want to place an outright bet, have a look at the following table.

PlayerTournament winning odds
Michael van Gerwen+120
Gerwyn Price+400
Peter Wright+1200
Rob Cross+1400
Gary Anderson+1800
Michael Smith+2000

The rules of the match are simple. The first place to reach a score of 501 will win that particular match. Each player throws three darts and then subtracts the total score from that round from the 501 total to figure out what he has left to win. The matches are in a Legs format. The first two rounds will be a Best of 5 sets. The third and fourth rounds will be a Best of 7 sets. The quarterfinals is a Best of 9 sets. The semifinals is a best of 11 sets, and the finals is a Best of 13 sets.
